Soccer!

Soccer!

The kids love to play soccer and our team had a lot of time after school to play with the kids.

Time for School

Time for School

Each morning the kids walk to school at 7:15 AM. Our team walked with them each day and played with the other kids from school. Over 100 students attend the Tanda Bilingual Academy.

Morning Rituals

Morning Rituals

There is a different ritual for each day of the week. One morning the students raise the flag, another day they have a short Bible lesson, and some days they repeat pledges in both English and French.

Installing the Playground

Installing the Playground

Our team had the opportunity to install new playground equipment for the children.

Pictured left to right: Koffi (one of the SFH guards), Dennis (our translator for the trip), Egberto (digging) (one of the SFH guards), Pastor Paul (SFH Director), and Shad.

Enjoying the Playground

Enjoying the Playground

Once the playground was installed it was a very popular location for the kids.

Trip to Town

Trip to Town

The Solace Family Home is on the edge of town, but everything is within walking distance. Tanda is a town of 30,000 - 40,000 people.

The Market

The Market

Our team spent Friday in the market learning about how the staff and the Jacksons shop for supplies. We even had a “market challenge” and our team had to find and purchase items without (too much) help.

Church Inauguration

Church Inauguration

We attended a new church building inauguration in Nassian, about a 3.5 drive from Tanda. It was a wonderful service and lunch was provided after.

Church

Church

On Sunday morning we attended church in Tanda and Jeff spoke for a short amount of time about how the church needed to come together to build an area for the kids.

Kids Church

Kids Church

There are a LOT of kids at the church on Sunday mornings. Currently they meet under a tree by the church, but they are hoping to build a pavilion for their class time.

Ancestry Pond

Ancestry Pond

The locals believe that a witch doctor many years ago put the souls of their ancestors into the catfish that live in this pond. Obviously fishing is not allowed.

Meeting Village Leaders

Meeting Village Leaders

Our team painted a church in a nearby village. When we arrived we were officially greeted and given a place to sit before the work began.

Painting

Painting

We painted a church in the village that has lended a helping hand to Jeff and our Home multiple times. They are in the process of building a larger church in the village.

Hadege

Hadege

The village we visited was the home of Hadege, one of the aunt’s employed at the Home. She was excited to show us her village.

Special Project

Special Project

While we were there the children worked on a special project to send back to the States.
